If you like your beaches with a side of hiking, meander along the rocky lava fields to Mahai’ula beach, or continue along the path to the usually secluded Makalawena beach, where if you’re lucky you might spot a turtle in the water or a monk seal sunning on the beach. Finally, adrenaline junkies will have the time of their life ziplining over the tops of the forest in Kohala, a truly one-of-a-kind way to experience the beauty of the Big Island.
